You've Got To Have Long Hair

If you're going to be a guy and a musician, your best ticket to fame and fortune is having long hair.

Just sayin'.

This afternoon I went to a concert. Two dudes playing some Brahms. Pretty beautiful music. Really beautiful music.

And they both had long hair.

You can't really tell from this tiny picture. But they do.

And it's probably way more fun to play beautiful cello music and beautiful piano music when you have long hair and you can fling it about. Good times!

Here are a couple of other dudes who are probably more famous in their respective fields because they've got the hair. Not saying the two gentlemen I heard this afternoon fall into that category. It just made me think...

Exhibit A:
Gustavo Dudamel.

He's got amazing hair. And when you watch him conduct an orchestra, you understand that he uses his hair to conduct as well.

But does he get extra bonus points that other don't get because of the hair? Well, that and he's a cutie. So double bonus points that have nothing to do with his actual conducting and artistic directing prowess?

Exhibit B:
Steven Tyler.

Let's be honest. The guy has amazing hair that he is able to fling about in a manner that just makes you want to rock out, too.

Does the long, amazing hair provide him bonus kudos for style that overstep his skills as a musician? Or does it matter if you're a rock star -- hair is part of the deal?

In any case, if you're reading this and you're a guy and you want to grow up to be a famous musician of any genre, start growing out your hair immediately.

Especially if you want to be super-famous.
